Chwarel Pen yr Orsedd. The Bargain -Jane Catrin Morris, Blaenau Ffestiniog

Am unwaith yn ei fywyd cafodd Taid fargen dda. Daeth adra ddiwedd y mis efo gyflog mawr. Dyma Nain yn dweud “os nag wyt wedi dwyn o fanc dyma ddigon o arian adeiladu cegin i’n bwthyn” – a dyna beth a wnaethbwyd!

For once in his life, my grandfather got a good bargen [share of the rock]. He came home at the end of the month with a big pay packet. My gran said “if that hasn’t been stolen from a bank, that’s enough money to build a kitchen for our cottage” - and that’s what happened!

Craig Fawr

Hen nain yn paratoi bocs bwyd i’w gwr (gweithio yn y chwarel). Newydd dod allan o’r gegin pan death craig fawr i lawr (5 tunnell!!!) i fewn i’r cegin. Mae gen i lun rhywle….

My great grandmother was preparing a lunch box for her husband (working in the quarry). She had just left the kitchen when a huge rock came down (5 tonnes!) into the kitchen! I’ve got a picture of it somewhere…
